About the "half your age plus seven" rule

The Rule defined:

It is generally socially acceptable for one to be romantically involved with someone who's age is at least half your age plus seven years.

The Facts Are These

Some interpret the rule such that if you are younger, you double your years, then subtract seven. This is mathematically inconsistent. The consistent method is to subtract seven years from your age, then multiply by two.

At age 14, the rule states that both people must be the same age.

Elijah Muhammad (1897-1975) said that the ideal age of a man's wife was half his age, plus seven.
